Who is Srimati Sita Thakurani?

Srimati SitaThakurani was a great Krishna Devotee. Sita Thakurani’s residential place was Shantipur. Sita Thakurani was the daughter of Shri Nrishimha Baduri. Srimati SitaThakurani appeared in the month of Bhadrapada in Phuliya Nagar on the very auspicious day of Shukla Panchami. Srimati Sita Thakurani was the wife of Shri Advaiya Acharya. Shri Advaita Acharya is the combined incarnation of Mahavishnu and Sadashiv. Srimati Sita Thakurani had Three Sons – Achyutananda, Krishna Mishra, and Gopala Mishra all of were devotees of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.

Other Name Of Sita Thakurani

According to the Gaura-Ganodesha-Dipika book which was written by Kavi Karnapura, Srimati SitaThakurani is Yogamaya. The Gaura-Parshada-Charitvali says that in Krishna Leela Srimati Sita Thakurani was Purnamasi – The mother of Sandipani Muni. And Grandmother of Madhumangal and Nandimukhi and she were disciples of Narada Muni. (Gaura-Ganodesha-Dipika, however, says that Paurnamasi in Krishna-Lila became Sri Govinda Acharya in Chaitanya Leela.)
Srimati SitaThakurani is the one who facilitates the Leela’s in Krishna in Vrindavan Dham for the pleasure of Krishna. She was the one who apparent Sri Vrindavan Dham. In Vrindavan, everything is done for the pleasure of Krishna.

Role Of Sita Thakurani In Gaur Leela

Srimati Sita Thakurani played an important part in the very early pastimes of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.  She was present at the Birth Ceremony of Mahaprabhu. She presented Mahaprabhu with many wonderful items and she was given many presents by Jagannath Mishra and Sachi Devi. Srimati Sita Thakurani brought dresses, ornaments, silken clothes, jewelry for Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu when he appeared in Mayapur. She also brought fresh grass, turmeric, kum-kum, and sandalwood for the golden baby. The very beautiful name Nimai was given to Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu by Srimati Sita Thakurani. Srimati Sita Thakurani taught Sachhi Mata how to take care of Mahaprabhu. She was always absorbed in Vatsalya – Prema (Paternal Love) for Gaurang Mahaprabhu. Srimati SitaThakurani and Sachimata were of one mind, their life and soul were Nimai. During the auspicious ceremony, Sachimata chose Sita Thakurani first person to worship Nimai. Srimati SitaThakurani used to cook delicious food for Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and offer lunch Prasad to Them. She always used to love Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu as her son and He always loved her as His mother. 

A wonderful pastime when Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was in Anta Leela how Advait Acharya invited Mahaprabhu for prasadam and usually when Mahaprabhu take prasadam so many of the senior sanyasi also visit and take advantage of the opportunity to get association and they also took prasadam but on this occasion, Sri Advait Acharya had a very secret desire and that was he was time alone with Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and he feeds him just alone. So he could not express that desire than what it happens or says it was the arrangements of Yogamaya.  Just after Mahaprabhu came to his house for prasadam in Jagannath Puri then the rain started falling, it was heavy rain that no one can come for prasadam except Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Sita thakurani cook so many wonderful preparations of delicious Prasadam. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu Said it was very delicious its taste likes Nector of Amrit. Sri Advaita Acharya and SitaThakurani used to go and visit Shri Caitanya Mahaprabhu every year when he took sannyasa and went to reside in Shri Jagannath Puri Dham. Sita Thakurani used to prepare prasad for Chaitanya Mahaprabhu when he came to Shantipur after his Sanyasa.

Begging For Her Mercy

On the special occasion of Srimati Sita Thakurani auspicious Appearance Day we pray to her because It’s a good day to grab some extra mercy, some extra sweetness, desires – spiritual desires, these desires to advance in our Krishna consciousness. We pray to the most compassionate and motherly Srimati SitaThakurani to mercifully bestow her blessings and affection upon us all, so that we may be able to attain unflinching love for her dear Nimai (Chaitanya Mahaprabhu).
